She has since become an integral part of the company and pulls all the strings behind the scenes to ensure the smoothest of operations.
Joining BOOT was her first foray into the construction industry – and an opportunity she very quickly excelled in.
She said: “My background is in employment and social enterprises. I managed Poppy’s Pantry in Melton, run by Realise Futures – a community interest company supporting people with additional needs.
“When we started BOOT, my primary responsibility revolved around accounting, as well as assisting in launching the business. As the business rapidly expanded, I transitioned to exclusively working for BOOT.”
Initially working on the number crunching side of the business, Vicky soon took on more responsibilities – ranging from recruitment and HR to managing our fleet of vehicles.
She said: “I have a diverse role that encompasses managing the financial aspects of the business and overseeing business development alongside Paul. Additionally, I am accountable for organising the various insurance policies needed for our construction business and ensuring that our health and safety accreditations remain current.
“I hold an HGV licence and often jump in the tipper truck if needed. Each day brings a new set of challenges and experiences.
“It’s that variety that I really enjoy – tied in with the spontaneity of the industry. You never know what exciting project is around the corner.”
She added: “We have such a brilliant team here at BOOT. Everyone is supportive of one another and it’s a great atmosphere to work in.”
“I love seeing how our staff develop. We are always there to empower them in any way we can.”
When not at her desk or out and about, Vicky is likely to be found looking after the family’s new cocker spaniel puppy Marley, ferrying her teenage girls around to school and afterschool clubs, or playing her beloved piano.
She is also an avid baker – making her an ever-popular member of the team.
