We were tasked to improve the safety and functionality of Elmswell Fire Station in the spring of 2024 through significant roofing work and asbestos removal.
All works took place while the fire station was fully operational, with exceptional due care and diligence necessary to minimise disruption to crews – who could be called to an emergency at any given moment.
Major works included the installation of a new state-of-the-art insulated profile metal roof covering in the appliance bay. This not only provided enhanced insulation, but has reduced the need for more regular maintenance in the long run.
Built-up felt roof coverings were installed in roof areas 2, 3 and 4 to provide better protection from the elements while reinforcing structural integrity and boosting aesthetic appeal.
Asbestos was also safely removed from the soffits above the door in the appliance bay.
Further renovation works included the replacement of clerestory windows in the appliance bay to enhance natural light, creating a brighter workspace for the firefighters.
