During the early stages of the tendering process, we engaged with client Suffolk County Council to consider the project aims and objectives and offered guidance on the best ways to maximise the benefits of our work – including using alternative materials and glazing.
We carried out a condition survey of the site and identified area which would further enhance the energy credentials of the school. This included removing and replacing existing cladding and installing new insulation.
We also improved detailing at material interfaces to minimise air leakage.
Our work made a significant difference to the school’s energy efficiency and has seen a significant reduction in its gas usage.
It is estimated our work at the school will save almost 1,000 kilograms of emissions per year.
Decarbonisation work is a key area at BOOT and something we are proud to deliver with a proven track record for success.
We pledge to continue identifying cost-effective ways to improve energy efficiency for our clients and ensure our work has a positive impact on the environment.
Work at Paddocks Primary School was completed in a live school environment – so safety was an ever important consideration throughout the project. All windows were replaced on the same day they were removed to reduce heat loss and the project concluded before the arrival of colder weather.
This work was made possible thanks to our place on the Suffolk County Council Building Framework, recognising us as a leading and trusted contractor.
