Meet the team: Site Manager Jamie Tate

Swapping civil engineering jobs for the buzz of a building site has sparked a new love of construction for our Site Manager Jamie Tate.

Jamie joined the BOOT team in April 2022, having previously spent close to a decade working as an engineer for a number of local firms after achieving his FdSc in Civil Engineering from the University of Suffolk.

A desire to broaden his horizons and expand his skillset inspired him to apply for a Site Manager vacancy – and he hasn’t looked back since.

He said: “I’m a qualified civil engineer and was looking for a change in career. I was doing mostly groundworks at the time and wanted to challenge myself with something new.

“I like talking to people and the buzz of being on a site. You’re always learning something new in this job and there’s lots of variety too.

“I particularly enjoy the commercial jobs – they can be very varied and are interesting ones to work on.

“The first ever site I managed was the new sawmill and office for Huws Gray – that was a big one but I really enjoyed it.”

Numerous high profile projects have followed for Jamie, who leads his team of contractors in completing every job to the high standards our clients expect.

He is currently working on our bespoke residential build on the Suffolk coast – a dream 500sqm, five-bedroom property offering breathtaking sea views.

He added: “I’m now working on our bespoke residential build and things are going really well.

“We’ll hopefully hand over to the client in the next four to five weeks. It’s one we’re all really proud of.”

Away from the building site, Jamie enjoys spending time with his young family and playing his favourite video games.

“BOOT is a great company to work for,” he added. “One where you get along with everyone.

“I like how open and family orientated the business is.”
